If I remember correctly, in STRIKE THREE, YOU'RE DEAD
(and Edgar-winner in teh 1st Novel categroy, BTW)), Blissburg
was still an active Major League ballplayer.
And he wasn't a pitcher; he was a power hitter and, as
I recall, an outfielder.
He becomes a novice PI in the second book in the series,
FADEAWAY.
