David Peace's The Damned United, about the Leeds United soccer team of the 1970s is pretty darn noir. George V. Higgins' The Agent is less noir but also set in the world of pro sports. Wasn't there a Jonathan Valin novel set in the world of some ridiculous American sport or other?
