Harry,

Re your question below:

"By the way, does anyone know if this series ever came out as part of an edited volume of Whitfield short stories? I know they are not part of Crippen & Landrau's JO GAR'S CASEBOOK (2002)."

To the best of my knowledge, neither the Gar "novel," THE RAINBOW MURDERS, nor the two connected "Nagsaki" stories ("Nagaski Bound" and "Nagasaki Knives") has ever appeared in book form.

THE RAINBOW MURDERS, with a cumulative total of roughly 40,000 words is a little slight for novels these days, but if the two "Nagasaki" stories were included, I think it would make a decent volume.

Maybe something for the folks at Hard Case or Point Blank to think about.

JIM DOHERTY
