I loved Manhattan Love Song for all the reasons that you
mentioned and for his glimpses into a city long gone. As a
native New Yorker, I sometimes find that period pieces are
too centered on the historic and the commercial while
Woolrich lets you know what it was to ride on the El. It's
one of the qualities of his that I really appreciate.
