Kuttner was part of the Lovecraft Circle. He and Lovecraft
corresponded from Feb. 1936 until Lovecraft's death a year
later -- not as long as Bloch-Lovecraft, but at least as
long, I believe, as Leiber-Lovecraft.
Schultz and Joshi edited a collection of HPL's letters
to Kuttner
(Necronomicon Press) in 1990. Kuttner's Lovecraft pastiches
were some of his earliest published work, and inferior -- in
my opinion -- to his later SF for Campbell and his science
fantasy (THE DARK WORLD, etc) for the other SF pulps.
