IN 2007, I was knocked over by Charles McCarry's TEARS OF
AUTUMN
(1974) and Don Winslow's THE WINTER OF FRANKIE MACHINE
(2006).
There are others, of course (soon I hope to comment on the
latest from Reed Farrel Coleman and David Corbett), but those
two jump out.
