If you can't see how The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner is diametrically opposed thematically and in its resolution from Savage Night, I can't have this converstaion. Colin Smith, the runner, triumphs in the film and he does it on his own terms. It is one of my fave flick and I wrote it up here:
