Hi, friend. For what it is worth and in case you haven't seen it, the posts here do not kill Old Country.

I'd read the book and had been assured that the adaptation was faithful and wasn't spoiled even though I knew what was coming. In noir terms, I suspect knowing what was coming made things worse/better!

I hesitate to say more and will leave it at that.
