I'm not on the mailing list, but when I saw that he introduced a bartender in BONEYARD named Burke--just Burke--I really had to ask him about a Vachss influence on that novel (I've brought up the idea here before that the BONEYARD villain was influenced or inspired by Mortay from BLUE BELLE). He responded that it's all just coincidence, and that he's never read BLUE BELLE.
