Since there is so much talk about Chandler lately you might
be interested in a new book called THE LONG EMBRACE: RAYMOND
CHANDLER AND THE WOMAN HE LOVED, by Judith Freeman (Pantheon,
hardcover). I haven't read it yet but the dust jacket flap
says it's about his relationship with Cissy and her influence
on his life and writing.
