Just an observation of myself as a reader/buyer:
I was unwilling to put out $9.99 for Parker's reprint of
HUNDRED DOLLAR BABY, but gladly put out $13. for Megan
Abbott's QUEENPIN.
Why?
I'd heard good things about QUEENPIN and the $13 trade seemed
like a good deal.
It is much shorter, even than Parker's book, but so-far, it's
worth more than a recent Parker.
HUNDRED DOLLAR BABY should have been reprinted mass market
instead of trade and should have been more in line with HC's
$6.99.
I just checked and I note that Amazon is not even discounting
Parker's book.
If it's what the market will bare, I think that Parker--in TV
terms--may have just jumped the shark.
