RARA-AVIS: Library Talks on Hammett and THE MALTESE FALCON

As THE MALTESE FALCON has been coming up frequently in recent threads, this seems like a good time to mention that I'll be giving a series of talks at several upcoming library events.

For those of you who live in the Chicago area, I'll be speaking tomorrow at 2PM at the Frankfort Library on
"The Pulp Roots of THE MALTESE FALCON." This talk will focus on the plot, character, stylistic, and thematic elements Hammett cherry-picked from his earlier short stories when he was writing FALCON.

At 7PM this Thursday, 18 Oct, at the Homer Township Library, and 2PM next Sunday, 21 Oct, at the Tinley Park Library, I'll be speaking on "The Legacy of THE MALTESE FALCON," which will focus on the plot elements, characters, stylistic, and thematic elements that later private eye writers have cherry-picked from FALCON.
