I tried, but I couldn't get a pulse on it. This has happened
to me with other Amis books, so I conclude that he is not for
me. On Julian Barnes's mysteries, I found them interesting,
quirky, well written, good books, though not nearly as good
as his _History..._. In any case, it looks like his
contributions to hardboiled ended a long time ago so yes,
let's stay on topic.
