All I was addressing was Sam Spade. But since you throw Kafka
into the mix, here's why he isn't noir: Gregor and Citizen K
do not DO anything to get where they are. They don't scheme
to kill a spouse, embezzle money or whatever. Kafka is
political. Just because something is a dark story doesn't
make it noir. Noir takes place in crime fiction. Or are we
delving into the Brothers Grimm as well?
