Huh? Did we read the same book and see the same movie? Again, with all due respect, I have to disagree. One of the cool aspects of Spade -- and how he defies the noir tradition -- is how he works Brigid. He uses her to access the inner core of who is looking for the Falcon. But love her? Puh-leeze. The only woman that he shows any appreciation or need for is Effie. Everyone else is a means to an end.
