Huh? Did we read the same book and see the same movie? Again,
with all due respect, I have to disagree. One of the cool
aspects of Spade -- and how he defies the noir tradition --
is how he works Brigid. He uses her to access the inner core
of who is looking for the Falcon. But love her? Puh-leeze.
The only woman that he shows any appreciation or need for is
Effie. Everyone else is a means to an end.
