miker, if you liked Pop. 1280, I highly recommend the film
Coup de Torchon (A Clean Slate). Other than the shift of
locale (to French colonial West Africa), it's a pretty
faithfull adaptation. And a very good movie.
As for other Thompsons, I haven't read very many more than
you, but I enjoyed The Grifters (also made into a good movie,
with screenplay by Donald Westlake) and A Hell of a
Woman.
