a couple years back I spent a little time with literary
theory and all that subtext stuff and my enjoyment has gone
up considerably. I wouldn't say that it's had any negative
impact on enjoying the story.
Beyond all the nerdy subtext stuff, my reading pleasure took
a major jump when I discovered online forums and online
bookstores. For years I read in a vacuum with no one to
discuss books with, and my reading choices were determined by
what was available in the small mall bookstores and the used
bookstores.
So all in all, I'm happier than a pig in mud.
