Saw this at Publisher's Lunch:
RANDOM'S MOVIE HOUSE: "Reservation Road," Random House's
entrance into the movie business, by way of a 2005 deal to
invest in film versions of its books through NBC Universal
specialty division Focus Features, is scheduled to hit
theaters this fall, the Wall Street Journal reports (link,
subscription required for most content). The movie version of
John Burnham Scwartz's book was directed by Terry George
("Hotel Rwanda"). The publisher's strategy is not so much to
make money off movies and DVDs but to sell more books.
Projects in development include Ross Macdonald's "The Galton
Case"; Yasmina Khadra's "The Attack"; Dean Koontz's "The
Husband" and the coming nonfiction book "Curveball: Spies,
Lies, and the Man Behind Them: How America Went to War in
Iraq," by LAT correspondent Bob Drogin.
Cool!
