There's some great stuff in the film, don't get me wrong. It is one of my favorite books and I had high expectations. Have you read Die A Little by Megan Abbott? In no way am I suggesting that she lifted anything out of The Day of the Locust, but she sure is driving around that neighborhood a lot. Granted -- as I mentioned in another post here -- that's some hard territory to sink a new pump into and make your own. But I kept coming back to Nat West especially since someone lived at the Locust Arms or something like that in Abbott's book.
