Can't help you with novels, but there is a manga of Oldboy (a
translated into English issue of which comes in the recent
deluxe edition released in the US). Not sure which came
first, though, the movie or the manga.
Wasn't Memories of Murder based on a real case? Perhaps
there's a true crime book on that.
