Continental Op stories are my favorite--and I have to go with
Tim on this one--"The Gutting of Couffignal" is something
special, with the ending perfectly wrapping up the story. I
don't have a copy with me, but I thought the last line was a
little different. Anyway, great great story+ending. Best
ending for any noir story--"Forever After" by Jim
Thompson.
