RARA-AVIS: Re: Question about Ross MacDonald's works

For the introduction to our (Crippen & Landru's) forthcoming THE ARCHER FILES, Tom Nolan has written a biography of Lew Archer -- quite a tour de force.

The book, which is now in proofs, will have a cover based on the original Bantam cover for THE NAME IS ARCHER, all the short stories from LEW ARCHER, PRIVATE DETECTIVE and STRANGERS IN TOWN, and about a dozen previously unpublished fragments about Archer. These are not wastepaper dribs and drabs but rather material that Macdonald wrote, decided would not fit a particular novel but which he thought good enough to preserve for possible later use.
