I just learned (from Bill Crider's blog) that the Maltese Falcon has been stolen again (along with some rare Hammett books). Somebody call Sam Spade. My money's on Joel Cairo. Very shifty. And after all, Gutman's dead and Wilmer got the chair for it. O'Shaughnessy? No jury would have sent her to the chair. She died in prison. That leaves the mysterious Cairo.
