Re: RARA-AVIS: The Case Of Harry Crews

I like to re-read his earlier novels: THE GOSPEL SINGER, NAKED IN GARDEN HILLS, and CAR. A FEAST written before his fiction hiatus is his most strongly noirish book. But BODY is also terrific. His autobiography, A CHILDHOOD, has to stand as a classic. All of his books are rich in dark humor. He also has a collection of interviews and several books of essays.
