RARA-AVIS: S鲩e Noire

My thanks to Karin Montin for her translation of the 1948 piece by Marcel Duhamel, founder of the S鲩e Noire.

Now I can see how that definition can be culled all the way to "Dark and Sinister" which can describe charaters and acts as well as atmosphere.

It can also be condensed to one word, "screwed." With all of that, surely someone and often the protagonist is screwed.

A recent book that we read here, that fits so much of Mr. Duhamel's description is Domenic Stansberry's, *The Confession.* And just about all of Vicki Hendricks's work.
