Interesting story from today's Daily Variety. ABC has made a script commitment for a new Philip Marlowe TV series, with the character updated to the 21st century. It's described as "a present-day procedural crime drama with noir aspects and set in Los Angeles." There are currently no plans to use any Chandler novels as source material, even though the article notes that the rights holders to the Marlowe character are involved.FWIW, the producers are also behind the upcoming film adaptation of Dennis Lehane's GONE, BABY, GONE.The full story is here: http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117955547.html?categoryid=14&cs=1Vince Keenanwww.vincekeenan.comPop culture, high and low, past and present. One day at a time.
