RARA-AVIS: Re: No Subject

It's an absolute honor to have you mention Fast Lane. I agree, Shoot the Piano Player is a terrific book by Goodis. About Anyone's My Name--the book came out about the same time as Thompson's Killer Inside Me, and although it doesn't appear so at first, is every bit as jolting and hard hitting (maybe even more so) as Jim Thompson's classic novel. For anyone who loves noir, or great crime fiction, I strongly recommend Anyone's. The Captain is also a great book, although a different style. At times the writing in it reminded me of Bruce Jay Friedman (one of my favorite writers)--had that same absurdist humour in it--which can also be found in Witness to Myself.
