 I saw a strong sense of the value of self and a poignant sentimentality that I would never associate with postmodernism. I heard that Vollmann likes to do surrealism, and that's the something that I knew I wouldn't like. Other than the twisted reality in Jimmy's mind, I didn't run into any of that in Whores for Gloria.

I'm figuring on giving Vollmann another shot here soon.
