You might have been thinking of a Darren McGavin HAMMER
episode that was written by the "other" Kane, Frank Kane.
Frank Kane reportedly wrote a number of HAMMER episodes,
often adapting them from his own Johnny Liddell stories, and
substituting Hammer for Liddell.
