RARA-AVIS: Re: The films based on Charles Williams

Charles Williams-I am not crazy about The Hot Spot, Dead Calm, or The Third Voice, either, in case anyone is curious. I think it is asking too much to boil down a Charles Williams plot into a movie-it's a whole lot of plot. (I love The Pink Jungle-very campy, not noir, but fun) Day Keene-Joy House is great-fantastic screenplay-it has Charles Williams' fingerprints all over it. Jim Thompson-After Dark, My Sweet is my favorite Thompson film--also, my favorite contemporary adaptation of a noir novel. Lionel White--The Killing is the best, but The Big Caper is really, really good.
