The Hot Spot also had a pretty amazing Jack Nitzche soundtrack featuring, among others: Miles Davis, John Lee Hooker and Taj Mahal.

As for Billy Zane, he was also in a Jim Thompson adaptation, First the World, Then Fireworks. A bit too highly stylized, but it still has its moments.
