I was curious. Does Madden or any of the essayists make any mention of Anthony Boucher or the other newspaper reviewers?

************ I cannot remember any references, Ed, but I read the book a couple years ago and I did not completely reread it to write the review. I relied a lot on page by page notes I had made. The review I wrote was overly long, but I still left out some important stuff. Madden has a solid introduction at the beginning, and if Boucher is mentioned, I think it might have been there. It is a shame that I didn't cover this in the review. Another important essay in the book that I totally left out was Joyce Carol Oates's piece on James Cain. I thought it was important enough to review separately, but it wasn't finished when it came time to post the Madden review so it didn't get rolled in.
