Michael Herr's Dispatches blew me away when it first came
out. Really great writing, it's a new journalism account of
his time reporting in Vietnam. He went on to write some
(most?) of the voiceover for Apocalyse Now.
I still haven't read him, but didn't Kent Anderson serve in
Vietnam? Wasn't his Sympathy for the Devil a Vietnam
novel?
