Mark,

Re your question below:

"And wasn't the graphic novel [ROAD TO PERDITION], in turn, inspired by the Lone Wolf and Cub manga which were also adapted into movies? Then again, I've always thought that was overstated. Sure, they both feature assassins on the road with their sons (although the Cub was a whole lot younger), but they go in pretty different directions from there."

Al's said several times that he's a big fan of LONE WOLF AND CUB, and that he had it in mind while he was writing the original comic book script, but nothing in his graphic novel is sirectly based on LW&C. It's not a direct adaptation the sense that, say, THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN is of SEVEN SAMURAI, or A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS and LAST MAN STANDING are of YOJIMBO.
