In Speed-like style, a flirty blonde poisons Jack Eisley's drink and tells him that unless she can keep someone within ten feet of her at all times, she'll die. If he wants the antidote, Jack must take her back to his hotel room. Thus, violence ensues in this second crime novel by Swierczynski (The Wheelman), who is editor in chief of Philadelphia City Paper.
