Hardcore Bruen fans could do worse than to get a copy of A FIFTH OF BRUEN. It's a collection of Bruen's early novels and short stories, with an introduction by Al Guthrie. Well worth the $18 cover price. It was published by David Thompson's Busted Flush Press. David's at Murder by the Book in Houston, and he probably has some signed copies.

One of the short novels is "Abn Old Song and Nothing to Lose," definitely a crime novel, with a lot of the typical Bruen style. I read it this evening and really enjoyed it. Hard to believe that Bruen used to sell these books himself in local pubs.
