Re: RARA-AVIS: Murder Mystery Bookstores in Paris...

Your message was only to-day in my R-A mailbox.

In Paris there is a famous bookshop dedicated to "polar" (mystery lit) and SF, since the early seventies:

 Librairie Au Troisi譥 Oeil
    37, rue de Montholon
    75009 PARIS

It sells new stuff as well as second hand. It was founded by Fran篩s Gu鲩f and now, since years, it belongs to Stephane Bourgoin, the French specialist for serial killers (real ones).

A warning: second hand *in specialist shops* in France can be awfully expensive. But you probably know this.

Do not forget "les quais" (along the Seine) and their bouquinists; some are sometimes outlets for excess of stocks of some small publishers, others just second hand. It takes time but can be rewarding.

In Belgium, last Saturday I found a 1948 original edition of a novel by Leo Mallet (Le Labyrinthe imprint) for... 10 cents. But this is luck, not just knowing the "terrain"...

Hoping this helps.
