RARA-AVIS: Re: Eugene Izzi

Ed,

Izzi, as you've probably noted, was particularly good at portraying cops convincingly.

My favorite of his books was the posthumously published THE CRIMINALIST, about a Chicago PD homicide detective, trained as a criminalist but preferring to work as a street cop, who's on the trail of a serial killer who has, apparently, returned after a two decade hiatus.

Izzi also wrote a trilogy of procedurals about a special unit of the Chicago PD that investigates high-profile cases (SPECIAL VICTIMS, MR. X, and JADED)under the pseudonym "Nick Gaitano."
