John, I have a Mac too; if you go to Mail/preferences, select
Composing, look for Default Message Format, and choose RTF or
Plain Text-- It worked for me. Don't ask me any questions
about this, because I don't ever know what I'm doing with
computers, or why, and I'll scream.
