RARA-AVIS: in from the shadows-introducing Daido Moriyama

Cheers everyone, Just to announce my membership, probably the second Swede in the history of the list. Have been reading your posts for maybe two years. My history with noir/HB seems to reflect that of many others, introduced through Black Lizard in the 80s/90s and moved from there. The ones who blew me off the road with their stories and writing have been Thompson, Willeford and Ellroy. All the others of fame are simply adding to the pleasure. Am currently reading Dig My Grave Deep by Rabe. Considering all the knowledge and expertise among all of you I cannot offer you any new recommendations as a "house-warming gift", BUT if there are any photography fans among you, Japanese photographer Daido Moriyama is the most noir photographer ever. His grainy, hard contrast pictures from the Tokyo back streets are black and white fever. If you feel like having a new take on noir you could go "read" his stuff in-between whatever text you are reading. And have you noticed that Serpent's Tail has released a short story collection by David Goodis, including the novel Black Friday? /Mattias
