I totally agree with Bill for what concerns Richard E.
Johnson, a long term convict.
I will add: CAGE FIVE IS GOING TO BREAK (1970), which is IMO
one of his best novels. It's really HB, very hard, compact
and very dark. Inmates are planning an escape. A very simple
theme, brilliantly revisited in this novel.

definitely deserves a mention is E. Richard Johnson. SILVER
STREET, MONGO'S BACK IN TOWN, etc. And of course Malcolm

THERE have been reissued by Stark House.
