The Outlaw Bible of American Poetry, edited by
Alan Kaufman, Thunder's Mouth Press, New York, c1999, is a
huge paperback book of over 600 pages and a couple of hundred
poets, mostly contemporary. Many of these poems are gritty
and may be the sort of thing you are looking for. It is great
for browsing.

I feel at home with poetry like this. Does anybody know other
noir poetry? What poets are worth checking out?
