Yup, Avon. I really liked those books when they came out. And
I thought the Lloyd Hopkins books were great. In fact, I seem
to be in the minority in preferring them to the LA Quartet,
not to say I didn't think they were really good, too, just
prefer contemporary (the writer's contemporary time, not
mine) books to historicals. But as I've aleady noted, my
estimation of Ellroy slid down a very steep slope between
White Jazz and American Tabloid.
