I'm new to this type of fiction, and Hard Case Crime was my
gateway. I was intrigued by their reprint of Top of the Heap,
because it was an Erle Stanley Gardner novel that didn't
feature Perry Mason. I fell in love with the covers and
decided to read the other novels they brought out at that
time (late 2004) -- and I've been hooked ever since.
