I finished DARKLY DREAMING DEXTER recently and enjoyed it
quite a bit, although I wouldn't describe it as hardboiled or
noir. Dexter works in the Miami police department as a blood
spatter expert, and also happens to be a serial killer with a
twist--a serial killer who only hunts other serial killers.
It is possible that someone with a VERY broad definition of
noir might think this book fits, but I can't imagine anyone
calling this hardboiled.
