Jim Doherty:

> Ir was nominated for best 1st of 1963 but lost to
> Cornelius Hirschberg's FLORENTINE FINISH,
> sort-of-private-eye novel featuring Saul Handy,
> Chicago PI-turned-NYC-diamond-salesman.

Thanks for this! The Finnish edition of the Ullman book says it received an award of some kind (not which one), but it's not the first time Finnish publishers make a mistake. (Hirschberg's novel was also translated, may have to pick it up some time.)

> Hirschberg was even more of a one-hit wonder than
> Ullman. FINISH was his only book, AFAIK.

Abe finds one non-fiction title more:

The Priceless Gift Hirschberg, Cornelius Book Description: Simon & Schuster, New York, 1960. Hard Cover. Book Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. First Edition. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Orange boards, yellow cloth spine with black lettering; 343pp; appendixes; "How you can give yourself the priceless gift of a rich, cultural education".

> That might also be a good MYSTERY FILE article. 1st
> novel Edgar winners who were never heard from again.

What others are there?
