Miker asked:
>Anybody get any good books recently?
Not all that new, but I saved a few for the holidays that I
enjoyed:
DRIVE by James Sallis - A terrific little noir tale. While
reading it, it struck me as a nice companion piece to No
Country for Old Men. I loved it.
DANCING BEAR by James Crumley - I didn't enjoy this as much
as the three other Crumley books I've read (that might be
impossible to do), but I always enjoy reading his writing in
the Montana setting.
TEMPERANCE TOWN by John Williams. This is a string of
semi-connected short stories in the tradition of Five Bars,
Two Pubs and a Nightclub, followed by a novella (TEMPERANCE
TOWN) that works as an afterward to the Cardiff Trilogy.
Usually when reading Williams books, I'm just caught up in
the rollicking good-time ride with the plot secondary to me.
The last third of Temperance Town takes off and turns into a
thriller. Very cool.
CINNAMON KISS by Walter Mosley is next.
