I'm with Terrill here. The first 150 pages of THE ICE HARVEST
were - to me - one of the most gripping experiences I've ever
had. Disjointed? Huh! The man just walks into the scene and
reveals what has happened bit by bit, and I'm reading this
with total astonishment: how can he do this? how can a writer
be so good?
In those pages Phillips makes a very good use of David
Mamet's rules: enter the scene late, exit early.
