Wow, Kerry, lots here to answer. The pulps that are classics now, were always literary, but because they contained so much interesting crime, the popular audience never noticed. That's what I keep trying to do, but there's so much competition now! Also, clear communication is only step one. It took about 4 years of graduate work for me to learn enough to write a novel, and nobody ever stops learning. Once you get past what people can teach you or you can find in books, then there are all the things that can't be defined. You just keep finding more ways of improving.That's what makes it so interesting. As for people promoting ignorance, I'm sure that's true with some religions that would rather not have comparisons made, but some people are just silly and don't understand fiction. Vicki
