I like Petievich. His books have never gotten the
appreciation they deserve. If you want to see some solid,
basic hard-boiled writing, check out his first two books,
MONEY MEN and ONE-SHOT DEAL. I think I read both of them over
the course of one weekend, they were great.
I'm torn over whether or not I like the film or book version
of TO LIVE AND DIE IN L.A. better; both are great, and I
found enough similarities between them not to complain too
much. William Petersen (from CSI) stars in the movie version,
and it was neat to see him in his early days. --Brian
